police crackdown on the current protesters precipice stressing the president to abandon his power grabbing the country or leave as demonstrations start to look like a rerun of the revolution. dozens die in the latest twin attacks in the syrian capital damascus and it fears a wave of western support for the rebels will cause further civilian deaths. palestinians say they'll go to the international criminal court if it's confirmed that leader yasser arafat was poisoned with the status upgrade at the u.n. will help their cause. and terrorism evolved from scrambles to contain homegrown islamic radicals adept at blending into the european way of

life. on air online live from our new center here in moscow this is the demonstrations in egypt against what is being seen as a dictator like power grab by the president showed no sign of ending over one hundred thousand people are calling on mohamed morsi to leave after he gave himself authority beyond reach of the courts when ati's bell truism capital we now know we've seen a lot of anger in the streets over the last few days but has there been any action on a more official level. yes there has been there we've had to the choir is made to cool the country's major chords the constitutional court and the appeals court say they are going to strike of course the judges themselves are also still on a partial strike the journey syndicates and now so who for strike two seeing really
1:02 pm
quite a lot of movement that the major sectors within egypt society which the president is really going to have to do with as things escalate on the streets as well. now the street protests eased a toll today. we're still seeing ongoing clashes which and we started early last week and as we speak now right below us and continue to raids with police firing excessive amounts of tear gas and those. pallets of protesters there are dozens that now reporting from the scene my colleague tom bison has more. here in the streets or central cairo the sights the sounds the smells of protest and of civil disorder very loud and very clear tougher a square is just over there and a large crowd of protesters are doing stones at the police who are giving just as much back picking up stones themselves and firing back along with them as vans
1:03 pm
firing gas canisters into the crowds the stench of tear gas is thick in the air the police a protest as everyone alike is has their eyes and noses watching from all this tear gas has made itself cocktails trying through the air as well only pavements have been ripped up as have some of the branches of the trees it's a real street but this is being done on the. night in such a day these people absolutely determined the crowds of protesters that mohamad mushy was changing right to make that declaration that he did want to themselves we think was last tuesday we were. believe that mohamed morsi got to making democracy in this country but after within five five months and since christmas is starting to run dry is this extreme. to use just. all of the just going to be. a lot of these people i don't know morsi is the president was nowhere close
1:04 pm
to what the just the do you think this is really making that possible support of. them believe. that the relation. was. to discuss the situation in egypt let's join blogger and journalist while escada he is in cairo again like two years ago cries for the president to go are being heard out here square do you think perhaps a new revolution is on its way. i don't particularly think it's a new revolution i think we're finishing off this one for one we started two years ago because in reality not much has changed in the way the regime has been handling the country the transition process is in itself. you know in the state of chaos and the new elected leader ahmed morsi is determined to go down the same road that
1:05 pm
mubarak has gone down like that with all the economic policies and with his. inability to listen to what the people want but isn't isn't a transition process expected to be very difficult at this stage after all the draft constitution it could be voted on in just two days from now and morsi promised to shed his new power as soon as it passes so people have to be patient and they everything will be back to normal soon won't it. if we have signs that things are going well then i think i agree with you that we have to be patient but the fact of the matter is that everything is going in the opposite direction of what the revolution is called for the constituent assembly itself is a reflection of how unwilling to share power the muslim brotherhood are and along with one hundred morsi. he says that he will give back powers as soon as
1:06 pm
a parliament is a is elected but he's not allowing you gyptian to share in writing the constitution so this to me seems like a false promise about giving back power because the one thing he can do is allow dictions to write their own constitution and share power and he's not doing that so i don't believe to do much of which was appointed by mubarak were the ones who were threatening to derail this whole process surely not something that you as a protester would be king to see not happening very much where the judiciary came from originally yes the judiciary had have been a tool for the mubarak regime but if we come to think of it when people protested mubarak they were protesting police brutality and we see that. morsi is giving promises to the police that they will with impunity and does not want to bring anyone to justice for the crimes they've done what about the e.u. that's threatening to cut funding if morsi it does behave and continue to behave like a dictator as many perceive he is doing so do you think that sort of external pressure will help the protestors cause. external pressure will help the protesters cause
1:07 pm
but at this point i think mohamed morsi is willing to risk because i think at this point the u.s. who. are backing him on the course have not issued a very strong statement that would deter him from going for that power grab well give us an idea you're saying that nothing's really improved since mubarak was deposed give us an idea what it's like for you a gyptian is a stand of the living employment prospects just just how bad has it become and what's it like compared to what it was you know it's a lot worse security is a lot worse police are now unwilling to step in then anything domestic they only act politically this is much like the mubarak regime but it continues and it gets worse they will not move. to address any citizen concerns such as theft or mugging or thugs at the same time konami policies are the same. subsidies are about to be about to be lifted they have been lifted i think
1:08 pm
for the for gas at the moment not all of it but this is these kind of things that there has been no change in these things which are very vital to. most egyptians while thank you very much indeed for joining us well let's go and blogger and journalist live in ca really interested to hear we have to say thanks thank you well you too can share your thoughts on what's happening at the moment in egypt and what it will eventually lead to but caution your vote at all don't come here's how the votes of money up at the moment forty percent of those you have voted so far believe that morsi will cancel his new doors in order to stay in power about one in four say this disturbance will see the military experts in the carriage return to power almost as many think further instability will lead to an intervention by western powers as we saw in libya and a ten percent say that morsi will resign and new elections will take place. we

could hear from him but now it all to come. united nations is preparing to vote on whether palestine should receive non member observer status the organization if approved it would mean international recognition of the palestinian state and give additional powers like taking issues to the international criminal court and participating in un general assembly debates while the u.s. strongly opposes the bit france has already said it will vote in favor of the resolution it also has overwhelming support from developing nations spokes person for the palestine national authority not order says that it's looking like leave the motion will be paused. palestine is very optimistic about winning the necessary votes the number of countries that have already co-sponsored the draft resolution surpasses sixty five not mistaken and so the palestinian leadership is pretty certain of success well there isn't a better time to take this step the now after israel's recent most recent assault
1:10 pm
on the gaza strip all palestinian factions have reached an agreement that this could should never happen again while palestinians are divided there is you know a new maty among the palestinian political system in its entirety how months fatah islamic jihad all palestinian factions support the staff and wanted to succeed and they realize that they agree amongst one another that the priority domestic priority now is for rebuilding and for reinvigorating the democratic institutions of palestine consolidating this reconciliation and moving forward as the state of palestine towards steps on the ground that would reverse the israeli occupation and entrenched independence. the recognition. that in chances for success the international criminal court they say they'll turn to the hague if it's proven that late leader yasser arafat was murdered his grave was open on tuesday and

more news today violence has once again flared up. these are the images and seeing from the streets of canada. operations are all. out here in moscow and in syria up to fifty four people have been killed and dozens injured by twenty car bombings in a damascus suburb mostly populated by president assad supporters from the syrian social club a pro-government group pushing for reforms thinks these blasts are being used to shift the balance in the civil war they have all sorts of objectives first of all obviously to give the illusion to to give the sense of the feeling that the government is not in control in the hope that people would start losing
1:16 pm
support we know that the theory has been from the very beginning that the people are afraid of exactly that amount of the government strong grip is slipping they would immediately shift sides of the sea the sea is yet to happen and people are still in support or there is enough people the support of the government to prevented from falling so yes this is civil war tactic in a sense. a far cry from gun toting radicals in the middle east the terror now facing france's much more sinister blending right into society in the cause of it the french use too short of cash and opportunities flocking to radicalism there was artie's election to shift the reports tracking homegrown terrorism is not proving easy. the recent national police raid on radical islamist groups in france made headlines with a rasta made in all regions the youngest suspected terrorist was only nineteen but

it was not the age which shocked so many little we discovered a network of seven additional people living primarily in paris strasburg and can all these people were born in france and are french nationals they are linked to the radical islamist movement police say the group was plotting at least twenty five terrorist attacks against jewish organizations and schools and age of twelve detainees were french natives who had converted to radical islam and experts say this worrying trend is the other in place as the financial crisis group's europe and many youth are finding themselves out of work if you go and you say you are excluded and the best way to change your life is to become immersed in it would not work with the majority of course but did need the majority they need to have permanent fruits of people converting economic crisis deepening it probably creates more exclusion and so more people to requote in the midst in communities or to

convert to islam france is no stranger to combating radical islamist groups since the nine hundred fifty s. it has been countering all jiri in iranian and lebanese terrorists and more recently al-qaeda but this expert say is a totally different matter just like most of europe over the years france has grown very successful in reinforcing its borders and preventing most of the threat coming from abroad but with more and more homegrown radical organizations appearing on its soil tracking down possible terrorists with passports would be very hard if not completely impossible security services believe for now the situation is under control as the conversion to radical islam is still relatively rare but no one can guaranteed stays this way as the number of violent. students by french muslims is already on the increase our secret service are really well experiments to fight these kinds of terrorism and they are watching very carefully the internet the date
